Biggest contribution by George Lucas to the cinema world

We all are well known with the success of “Star Wars”. The kind of contribution George Lucas has made to the cinema world is completely extravagant. Though Lucas did not excel in high school, but today he is known all over the world as a famous American producer, director, screenwriter, as well as the chairman of Lucasfilm Ltd. Apart from making nine movies so far, Lucas has directed mainly six major films till date and amongst them, Star Wars has gained him the most of the popularity. Without a doubt, Star Wars has given the cinema world a different direction. The way visual effects have been executed and portrayed is not something one can see in any ordinary movie. Basically, majority of the events were shooted in a fictional galaxy which was not that easier to design, especially in those times.

A Lucas movie was the first time people heard THX sound which was invented by Lucasfilm Ltd. The total box office revenue generated by the Six Star War Films has totaled approximately $4.3 billion. No matter, be it books, video games, comic books or any type of media you can think about, the movie has spawned all these media also. In a sense, ever since the movie has been released, directors are working day and night to introduce something which will blow everyone away. If we talk about today, use of 3D graphics has though become a common thing today. But, many thanks to George Lucas because of whom; today we can enjoy the fun of watching 3D movies.

Another very important contribution by Lucas was the use of a grand musical sound, with leitmotifs for different characters as well as for important concepts. John Williams suggested a majestic score, and started a revolution of his own in film scoring. Every time we see the movie, those memories are refreshed again and it’s a wonderful feeling. Basically, Star Wars was the first movie which offered us to taste the real fun of what 3D effects or visual effects look like. Before George Lucas, nobody had this thought in their minds.

It was in the year 1977 that Lucas had one motive of bringing such kind of visual effects that had never been seen on film before for his movie: Star Wars Episode IV : A New Hope. From then, the concept of using visual effects came into use. Before 1977, people did not have a chance to experience something like this. Industrial Light and Magic, that is ILM is a motion picture visual effects company which was founded by George Lucas in the year 1975 and is owned by the Lucasfilm Company. At this point of time, Lucas had a clear vision of discovering visual effects, which will blow everyone away. In a crux, the level of heights where the cinema world is residing right now is all because of George Lucas. If he could not have made these efforts, visual effects might have been a mystery. Big Thanks to George Lucas for all this!
